Fences

Can I build a fence?

YES, There are specific guidelines that need to be followed, after you have submitted the modification request and recieved approval from the Ypsilanti Township Building Department. The only type of fencing permitted within Greene Farms 6&7 is a wooden shadowbox style with a maximum height of 6 feet tall. Before beginning the process of installing a fence, you must obtain Board approval in order to verify your plan meets the specifications set per the association covenants. If you are considering installing a fence, please contact the Greene Farms 6 & 7 Homeowners Association Board.

Sheds

Can I build a shed?

YES, There are specific guidelines that need to be followed, after you have submitted the modification request and recieved approval from the Ypsilanti Township Building Department. Due to increasing interest, sheds are now allowed within Greene Farms 6 & 7. They must be wood-framed construction on a concrete slab with siding and roofing that matches the corresponding house. The maximum size allowed is 10 ft x 10 ft. Before beginning the process of building a shed, you must obtain Board approval in order to verify your plan meets the association specifications as well as the township ordinances. If you are planning to build a shed, please contact the Greene Farms 6 & 7 Homeowners Association Board.

Noise Violations

What can be done about loud steros?

Loud noise that can be heard 50' away is a violation of the Townships noise ordiance. This includes boom boxes in cars, radio/stero equipment in homes and fireworks. For all loud noise concerns, call 911. Let the dispatcher know it is a non-emergency and provide them with enough information so a officer can make contact with the offender. Noise violation are misdemeaners and only a deputy can write tickets for these offenses. You can also call 337-LOUD and leave a message and a deputy will follow up. Make sure you provide the make and model of the car, the time and day the noise violation takes place and the license plate number.

Curfew

What can be done about children out after hours?

The curfew for ages 17 and under in Ypsilanti Township is 10p.m. until 5:30a.m., 7 days per week. A parent or guardian also commits an offence by knowingly permitting or by having insufficient control of a minor and allowing them to remain in any outdoor place within the Township during curfew hours. Please call 911 for these situations.

What can be done about speeding in our neighborhood?
